Physical Description

Halflings stand about 3 feet tall and usually weigh between 30 and 35 pounds. Their skin is ruddy, their hair black and straight. They have brown or black eyes. Halfling men often have long sideburns, but beards are rare among them and mustaches almost unseen. They like to wear simple, comfortable, and practical clothes. A halfling reaches adulthood at the age of 20 and generally lives into the middle of her second century.

The beginings of the halfling race are unknown… Some believe Yondalla and the halfling race was crafted by Pelor as his first attempt to create humanity. Seeing this people as a failure to produce the desired race he wanted, he granted godhood to Yondalla and asked her to guide her ward to safety and protect them from harm as Pelor saw good in the tiny people…

Halflings prefer trouble to boredom. They are notoriously curious. Relying on their ability to survive or escape danger, they demonstrate a daring that many larger people can’t match. Halflings clans are nomadic, wandering wherever circumstance and curiosity take them. Halflings enjoy wealth and the pleasure it can bring, and they tend to spend gold as quickly as they acquire it.

Because of their nature this group of people rarely “live” anywhere for too long. They are always nomadic and moving from city to city as gypsies or vagabonds. Because humans tend to find their pressence appealing (Their kids!) they are afforded a fair amount of welcome whereever they go in human lands which suits this race just fine… Humans often treat them as kids at first until they realize their true nature, then they are treated as equals.

Halflings also tend to be far more lawless than humans working with underground groups and illegal products. In fact, knowing a halfling or two can get you hooked up with any drug or fetish your looking for if you have some repoirt built with them… Still, most humans quickly learn to be wary of any halfling as they are just as capable and willing to remove your purse as any thief…

Halflings are also famous collectors. While more orthodox halflings may collect weapons, books, or jewelry, some collect such objects as the hides of wild beasts—or even the beasts themselves. Wealthy halflings sometimes commission adventurers to retrieve exotic items to complete their collections.
